Pomegranate:  Suli and Cassia become lovers as they are initiated through sensual ritual into the Dionysian Mysteries. Fourteen poems mark their journey into womanhood, expressing the longing and nostalgia that resonate in the body’s remembrance.

Amanda Hale has adapted the Pomegranate poems as a libretto for an original opera to debut at Toronto’s Buddies in Bad Times theatre in June 2019. She has collaborated with composer Kye Marshall since 2014, developing Pomegranate Opera, assembling cast and production team, with guidance from Marjorie Chan, and from Michael Mori of Toronto’s Tapestry Opera.
